Hulks

creature

Hulks are massive alien creatures with a storied history stretching back to the original UESC Marathon's fateful voyage. Known to the Marathon's crew by this blunt descriptor, Hulks stand over ten feet tall with almost no body fat, a physiology that forces them to consume vast quantities of food to remain active. Originally enslaved by the Pfhor alongside the S'pht, this species sparked one of the most destructive slave revolts in Pfhor history after cybernetic implants were grafted onto one of their kind. The Nar people reportedly consider Hulks gentle creatures in their natural state, but the specimens encountered on Tau Ceti IV are anything but gentle: they are apex physical threats that can kill a runner in one or two devastating blows.

In combat, Hulks are slow-moving but extraordinarily durable and lethal at close range. They have no ranged attack capability, which makes distance management the single most important factor in surviving an encounter. Hulks crush and batter anything within arm's reach with terrifying efficiency, and their sheer physical power means that a runner caught at close quarters is in severe danger even with full health. The optimal strategy is to maintain maximum distance at all times, use superior mobility to stay out of melee range, and apply sustained ranged firepower to chip away at their considerable health pool. While their lack of ranged attacks is a significant exploitable weakness, underestimating a Hulk's closing speed in confined spaces has proven fatal to many runners.
