Protector V3

Protector V3 is a superior rarity shield implant in Marathon and the top tier of the Protector family, granting three additional shield slots for substantial increases to your Runner's total shield capacity. This is the most aggressive shield expansion available from any single implant, directly extending how many hits you can absorb before going down. The cost is steep: -15 Agility and -15 Heat Capacity. These penalties significantly reduce your movement speed, jump height, and the duration you can sprint or slide before overheating.

Protector V3 is built for dedicated tank runners who prioritize raw survivability above all else. The mobility penalties at this tier are severe enough that it is generally not recommended for agile or mobility-focused shells, as the compounding reductions can cripple effective traversal and escape options. It works best on heavy-build runners whose base Agility and Heat Capacity are high enough to absorb a -15 reduction while remaining functional. In team compositions, a runner equipping Protector V3 can serve as a frontline anchor, drawing fire and holding ground while teammates extract or flank.
