Outland
sniper-rifle
The Outland is a bolt-action sniper rifle in Marathon that fires MIPS Rounds, built for extreme damage and extreme range. With 74 damage per shot, a 2.2x precision multiplier, a firepower score of 162.8, and an effective range of 175 meters, the Outland is the hardest-hitting bolt-action sniper available on Tau Ceti IV. Each trigger pull demands a full bolt cycle before the next round chambers, slowing fire rate to 43 RPM compared to the semiautomatic Longshot, but the trade-off is a measurably higher per-shot lethality that can down well-shielded runners in very few hits to the body and a single precision shot in favorable conditions.
The Outland's 4-round magazine, 4.1-second reload, and demanding equip speed of 1.7 seconds mean it is best deployed from pre-established positions where runners have time to set up and commit to a shot. Its 95% recoil rating and 1.1-second ADS speed reward patient, deliberate marksmanship over reactive gunplay. The 0.71-degree ADS spread keeps shots tight when properly aimed. Notably, the Outland is rarer and less commonly found than the Longshot, making it a high-value extraction target in its own right. Its compatible Outland Suppressor mod adds a tactical noise-reduction option for runners who want to maintain positional anonymity between shots. The Outland is rated A-Tier: an outstanding weapon for committed long-range specialists, but unforgiving for players who cannot afford to miss.
