Mechanic's Kit

The Mechanic's Kit is a status-cleansing consumable that removes physical debuffs from the runner, including conditions like Frost, Toxin, and Immobilize that impair movement and combat effectiveness. These hardware-category status effects can be inflicted by environmental hazards, enemy attacks, or equipment used by rival runners, and the Mechanic's Kit provides a reliable way to clear them mid-engagement without waiting for them to expire naturally. Using it also provides a temporary boost to the runner's Hardware stat, adding a small but meaningful combat benefit on top of the cleanse.

The standard Mechanic's Kit is most valuable in zones where enemies or terrain frequently apply physical status conditions, particularly colder environments where Frost buildup is common. It should be distinguished from the OS Debug, which handles software-based effects like EMP and Hack rather than physical ones. Runners who expect to encounter heavy status pressure should carry at least one Mechanic's Kit for reactive use, while the Advanced Mechanic's Kit offers an upgraded version of the same effect for more demanding situations.
