Baseline Calibration is Sekiguchi's introductory contract in Marathon, functioning as an onboarding mission that establishes the faction's data collection protocols and introduces Runners to Nona's research methodology. Before pursuing the more demanding Parasitism priority contract chain, Runners must complete Baseline Calibration to demonstrate basic operational competence and provide Sekiguchi with the initial data points its research requires. The contract involves foundational field tasks that acquaint Runners with the biological and environmental scanning procedures central to Sekiguchi's work.

Baseline Calibration sits alongside the Introducing Sekiguchi contract as a gating prerequisite for the faction's deeper content. Completing it unlocks the five-part Parasitism chain and signals that Nona is prepared to invest more intensive resources in the Runner's development.
