Battery Overcharge

Battery Overcharge is a passive trait ability belonging to the Triage Runner Shell in Marathon. Whenever Triage breaks an enemy's shield, the attack emits an EMP burst at the moment of shield failure, dealing additional disruption damage and applying an electromagnetic effect to the target. This gives Triage an unexpected offensive edge that rewards shield-breaking aggression, turning what would otherwise be a purely defensive Runner into a threat that punishes enemies for maintaining their shields.

Battery Overcharge complements the EMP function of the Reboot+ Prime ability by creating a consistent pattern of shield-breaking pressure: strip shields with weapons to trigger Battery Overcharge, then follow up with a Reboot+ EMP to deal bonus damage to the now-vulnerable target. This synergy encourages Triage players to be active participants in combat rather than hanging back passively. The trait also pairs well with Recon's Stalker Protocol, which reveals enemy trails after shield breaks, meaning a Triage-Recon squad can generate both disruption and persistent positional intel every time shields are stripped.
