The Destroyer (also known by the codename Locus) is Marathon's frontline tank: a combat specialist built to get into the fight as fast as possible and stay there. Aggressive and brutal in its design, the Destroyer anchors team pushes through a combination of heavy offensive firepower and on-demand defensive shielding. Players who want to be the tip of the spear, soaking damage and dishing it back in equal measure, will feel right at home in this Runner Shell.

The Prime ability, Search and Destroy, deploys shoulder-mounted missile pods that launch homing projectiles at previously damaged enemies, enabling sustained offensive pressure that rewards an aggressive, target-marking playstyle. The Tactical ability Riot Barricade generates a frontal energy shield that blocks incoming damage; the cooldown scales with the amount of damage absorbed, meaning the more punishment the Destroyer takes, the faster the shield returns. Two passive traits support close-range dominance: Thruster provides a quick aerial dash in the current movement direction for repositioning and gap-closing; Tactical Sprint grants a faster sprint speed at the cost of increased heat generation, requiring careful heat management during extended chases.

The Destroyer Runner Shell is the go-to choice for players who want to fight head-on and control space through presence and durability. Its main weakness is heat management: heavy use of Tactical Sprint and other offensive tools can push the Destroyer's heat meter into dangerous territory, forcing brief pauses in aggression. Players who enjoy straightforward, high-impact combat, protecting squadmates by drawing fire, and overwhelming enemies with sustained offensive pressure will find the Destroyer one of Marathon's most satisfying Runner Shells.
